In the morning, the Q1 students met at the station in Unna and took the train to the civic centre in Soest. After arriving, we watched ''The Great Gatsby'' performed on stage. "The Great Gatsby" is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and deals with a mysterious millionaire and the revelation that the American Dream is an empty illusion.
The play resembled the novel very accurately, which made the story easy to understand and very enjoyable. There also was lots of room for interpretations. The actors involved us as the audience, making the performance funny and interactive. The emotional intensity was very catching, and many scenes felt intense and real. It felt authentic and we especially enjoyed the character development and how convincingly the roles were put on stage. Overall, the theatre visit was a memorable experience that brought the novel to life.
A special word of thanks goes out to our school's friends' association (Förderverein), which took over 50% of the costs for the tickets!!!
